D23 kicks off Friday, August 9 with a panel full of reveals from Marvel, Star Wars, and more.
Fans are expecting a big showing from Marvel since they have multiple release dates with no confirmed titles. 5 years ago they announced the full slate for Phase 4 and 5. Now, it’s (hopefully) time to reveal Phase 6, along with many other surprises.
Here are 5 predictions I have for D23 that range from highly likely to very bold.
1) Marvel’s Full Phase 6 Film Slate and More

Kevin Feige announced 3 films for Phase 6 at the 2019 San Diego Comic Con: Fantastic Four, Avengers The Kang Dynasty (Now Avengers Doomsday), and Avengers Secret Wars.
Disney set 4 titles from 2026-2027 with no titles. The first title is set to release February 2026. This makes it highly likely that we’ll be getting these titles on Friday. What could those titles be? Assuming Blade stays in 2025, here are the titles I find most likely
- Doctor Strange 3: Doctor Strange is a tentpole character and will no doubt play a vital role in Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars. The film will likely set up the events of one or both titles.
- Shang-Chi 2: Shang-Chi is LONG overdue for a sequel. He’s one of the best new characters and had a solid origin. Having no sequel update will be a huge missed opportunity.
- Thor 5: There’s been some speculation that this is in development. I can’t see this movie releasing in 2028 or beyond, even if Thor survives Avengers Secret Wars.
- Scarlet Witch: Scarlett Witch has become a fan favorite character and still has no movie. Considering how important they’ve made her to the multiverse Saga, it’s possible they resurrect her for her own film.
Spider-Man 4 is not included because it’s a Sony property and wouldn’t use a Disney release date.
I think that we’ll also get a tease at what’s to come. Marvel may announce an X-Men movie or an X-Men solo film while there. It’s not unlike Marvel to announce things far down the line.
2) The Fantastic Four in Costume

The Fantastic Four: First Steps recently began filming last week. If you’ve been anywhere near the internet the last few years, you know how rampant set photos have been. There’s already been some for this movie!
Marvel won’t risk giving away the first look at the team through a blurry, zoomed-in iPhone picture. They’ll get ahead of this and reveal the Fantastic Four in costume at D23.
Set with a 1960’s retro-futurist look, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most unique films. If the artwork above is anything to go by, the costumes are just one of many things to look forward to.
3) ‘Daredevil Born Again’ Trailer

A lot is riding on Daredevil Born Again. They’re carrying the torch from the Netflix series which is a high bar to reach. Fans are rightfully worried that the new team won’t match the level of quality and maturity that came before, especially after a shaky production.
This is Marvel’s chance to prove them wrong. A great trailer would ease those concerns and turn the conversation on its head. Remember the Echo trailer?
There’s already been some hints from the cast and crew that the show will make an appearance at D23. Therefore, it’s safe to expect some sort of news from the series.
4) Announcement of ‘The Midnight Suns’

The MCU is in need of a clear direction. Many Marvel projects, like Moon Knight, had no clear picture on how they’d tie in to the larger universe.
A Midnight Suns announcement would give fans an idea at where we’re headed. Projects like Moon Knight, Werewolf By Night, and even Blade would become more important than ever. (Maybe that possible Scarlett Witch film can come into play).
This is less likely than others on this list, but I wouldn’t rule it out.
5) Is ‘Young Avengers’ a Movie or a Show?

Marvel has been setting up a Young Avengers project for quite some time now. The Marvels teased such a team-up with Kamala Khan recruiting Kate Bishop at the end of the film. If you add Ironheart, Cassie Lang, and America Chavez, you get a full team.
The biggest question about the project is whether it’ll be in the form of a movie or a show. With most of these characters having a Disney+ series themselves, a series seems likely. This would give the streaming service its own team-up that would surely draw high viewership and new subscribers.
D23 will be stuffed with reveals even if it accomplishes half the stuff on this list. For coverage on the biggest announcements, stay tuned here and on Let’s Get Reel social media.
